The Spinning Leaves host The Philly Folk Parade: Night #2 @ The Fire

Last night (May 11, 2010) was the 2nd night of The Philly Folk Parade Tuesday nights in May residency at The Fire (412 W Girard Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19123) and as expected with the caliber of talent on the bill it was phenomenal.  Johnny Miles and The Waywards opened the show with a great performance that made me realize that I really need to pay more attention to Miles’ music – it’s that good!  Oh my, The Phil D’Agostino Quintet is amazing!  Now, you might have seen Phil D’Agostino play bass (or several other instruments) as a member of a number of Philly bands but none of that compares to seeing The Phil D’Agostino Quintet live – you owe it to yourself to do so.  Hearing Spirit and Dust playing the back room stage led to one of those rare but perfect moments when you realize you now have another new favorite band.  Oh, I love when that happens!  The captivating quality of Psalmships’ music is unreal, spectacular, and breathtaking.  Last, but by no means least, was The Spinning Leaves – the hosts for the night and they did a great job of it and had an excellent closing set.  Also, on the bill were Shannon Pelcher and Hoots & Hellmouth who each did their parts to add to the wonderful night of music.  Thank you to everyone who played!

I’ll see everyone next week for night 3 (May 18, 2010) of The Philly Folk Parade residency.  Chris Kasper will be hosting that night with: The Doublewides, Birdie Busch, Cowmuddy, and more artists.

The final night of The Philly Folk Parade – May 25, 2010 will be hosted by Hezekiah Jones.
