Circle ‘Round The Sun creates such a smooth, effortlessly refreshing listening experience. Ben Arnold’s songwriting is remarkable, his voice is delightfully raspy (I love his tone), and musically this album sounds so polished.
“Thankful” (one of my favorites) is an opening track that rocks and the lyrical positivity is beautiful. It seems that for every positive, optimistic track on this album there is a darker, sadder song to follow. No surprise, the “happy” tracks standout a little more to me. I hear a banjo on “Float Down Stream” and I like it plus it’s an all-around great song. Oh my, I think “Never Come Down” is my favorite song on this album. “Livin’ a dream like I’m so high I might never come down–great lyrics and Ben Arnold with Zach Djanikian on vocals just works. “Over The Miles” is wrapped in layers of warm, rich, brilliant musical tones that only intensify the longing heard in the lyrics. Circle ‘Round The Sun ends with “The More Things Change” and remember “the more things change, the more they stay the same.”
It’s always special to find an album, like Circle ‘Round The Sun, that you can listen to from start to finish while you dance and sing along and then get a little mad when you realize the album is over. Sometimes I feel cheated–why does this wonderful music have to end!?!
