It seems as though Dawson Street Pub is my new venue of choice for Saturday nights. I was there last Saturday and saw Cowmuddy as well as two other bands. This Saturday I was at Dawson Street Pub to see Cresson Street Vibration. I decided to get there early so I could check out the other bands on the bill (thanks to Blinkin Lincoln Productions) .
The show began with a set by Inner Astronaut, a good band with decent music but at times it was hard to hear their music over the chatter. It’s not their fault, just an unfortunate downside of the bar/music venue setup. Then again, I was seated farthest from the band so maybe it’s my fault.
I was really impressed by The Lesser Ghost (NY). They had a really good sound that I enjoyed listening to. Seeing them live was great and it looks like that’s the only way I’ll hear their music until April 5th when their debut EP is released (says their Facebook page). Well, I’ll be looking forward to The Lesser Ghost’s EP release. In the meantime you can check out their EP preview video.
Cresson Street Vibration was the last band of the night. I’ve seen this band a couple times before and I’m definitely a fan of what they do. Cresson Street Vibration (members of The Brakes with Freddie Berman on drums) plays songs by other Philly artists but with a reggae- esque reworking. This particular set was extra special because they actually had some of the artist (Kasper, Reju, Onaral, Lee, and Arnold) they cover sing on their own songs. Needless to say, it was an incredible set and I highly recommend you see Cresson Street Vibration.
Live music = good times!
