Excited Light presents The Philly Folk Parade at World Cafe Live (August 2, 2009)

I first heard about The Philly Folk Parade a couple months ago and was in disbelief that so many of my favorite Philly artists were going to share the same bill.  So, when August 2nd finally came around I went to The Philly Folk Parade downstairs at World Cafe Live and what I witnessed was like a dream come true.

The New Time : An Incomplete History : Album Release Show : at Johnny Brenda’s (July 11, 2009)

I completely missed the first set which belonged to North Lawrence Midnight Singers.  Having not seen any of their set then or in the past I know very little about North Lawrence Midnight Singers.  Hopefully I’ll catch up with them again at some point so I can see what their music is about.


However, I did happen to make it to Johnny Brenda’s as Sisters3 was setting up which made me glad because they were half of the reason why I was there that night (the other half would be to see The New Time for their CD Release Show…of course!).  Sisters3 is one of those great bands that you could easily stand and watch play endlessly and enjoy every last minute of their set.  Sisters3′s music takes the heart and soul of an older sound and puts their own style on it with awe-inspiring harmonies.  Sisters3 had a great set and it seemed to be well received by the audience.
